The Heart of Riverhead Civic Association presents a commemoration of Holocaust Remembrance Day on Monday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Riverhead Free Library. This year’s theme is ‘Hearts and Minds’, offering an exploration and reflection on diary pages written in hiding or in death camps, the memories of survivors, and reminders that the future is in our hands.
Attendees will hear thoughts and emotions shared by survivors and their descendants, and presenters will share their own experiences, highlighting that hatred is still capable of great harm, but the humanity we all share is our greatest strength.
The program is a continuation of the annual tradition, following last year’s documentary, ‘Paper Clips’, and the sharing of tragic stories by local descendants two years ago. The event is free and open to the public, though advance registration is requested but not required.
To register, call the Riverhead Free Library at (631) 727-3228.
Editor’s note: The organizers notified RiverheadLOCAL of a change in the start time subsequent to publication of this event.
