The Mattituck-Laurel Library is hosting a unique event titled ‘Inventing the Florida Vacation’ via Zoom on Jan. 24, 2024. The event will commence at 7 p.m. and conclude at 8 p.m. The program will be a deep dive into the history of Florida tourism from the 1940s up to 1971. Attendees will get to explore the amusing and quirky attractions that helped the Sunshine State become America’s favorite vacation destination. The event will be led by pop culture historian Leslie Goddard. This program is co-sponsored by North Shore Public and Southold Libraries and hosted by Southold Free Library.
