Long Island Fleece & Fiber Festival at Hallockville Museum Farm

May 16, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

$10 – $12

Hallockville Museum Farm will host the annual Long Island Fleece & Fiber Festival, a day focused on fiber arts and the process of turning raw fleece into finished textiles.

The festival includes live sheep and llama shearing with Long Island Yarn and Farm, along with spinning and weaving demonstrations. A marketplace will feature more than two dozen regional fiber artists and artisans.

Nationally recognized knitting instructor Patty Lyons will lead two sessions on practical techniques and problem-solving for knitters. Additional workshops include an introduction to weaving with the Paumanok Weavers, a flat needle-felted farm landscape workshop with Shamma Murphy, and basket weaving with Barbara Blossey-Chuvalas using natural materials, including silk, seagrass and wool. Advance registration is required for workshops.

Family activities include a children’s craft area, agricultural displays and opportunities to meet the farm’s animals. Visitors are invited to bring their own fiber arts projects to work on during the day. Live music will be provided by the Old Time Jam, with local food vendors on-site and a bake sale hosted by Hallockville Bakers.
