The Room Without a Roof is set to host another exciting session of poetry and prose on Saturday, April 26, 2025. The event will take place at the Riverhead Free Library from 2 to 4 p.m. (EST), and will be available both live and on Zoom. The event will feature readings by Gladys Henderson, Robin James, and Tom House, followed by an open mic session.
Gladys Henderson, a beloved figure of Poetry Street, was named the Walt Whitman Poet of the Year in 2010 and served as the poet laureate of Suffolk County from 2017 to 2019. Her book, _Eclipse of Heaven_, was published in 2009 by Finishing Line Press.
Tom House, an English teacher residing in Springs, is the president and founding director of a local nonprofit that organizes the annual Hamptons Pride Parade in East Hampton. His fiction and nonfiction stories and essays have been featured in over 40 publications since the ’90s, including the American Review, _New England Review_, and the East Hampton Star.
Robin James, a lifelong creative, published her first book of poetry in 2017, drawing from her experiences with marriage, divorce, motherhood, and personal growth. She currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia, and enjoys trail walks, cycling, photography, and unwinding with a good craft beer or cup of coffee.
The event will be hosted by Chip Williford and Maggie Bloomfield. The reading will be recorded and available on the event’s website for those who cannot attend. Donations can be made through Venmo (PoetryStreet) or PayPal (paypal.me/poetrystreet).
