The Mattituck-Laurel Library is hosting a series of enriching sessions titled “Wintering On”: A Poetry, Art & Music Series. These sessions will be held every Tuesday evening on Zoom, starting from Jan. 9 and ending on Feb. 27. Each session will feature a PowerPoint presentation in the fine arts, presented by Jerry Matovcik. You can choose to join one session or all of them. The sessions will cover a variety of topics:
– Jan. 9: Snow on Snow on Snow: Poetry by Robert Frost, Christina Rossetti, Avram Sutzskver, Emily Dickinson, and others; paired with art by Chagall, Gauguin, Georgione, and more.
– Jan. 16: Peruse How Infinite I Am: The Many Voices of Emily Dickinson
– Jan. 23: Sensations Sweet: Exploring Wordsworth’s Beloved Lake District
– Jan. 30: The Skater of Ghost Lake by Wm. Rose Benet and The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes
– Feb. 6: I Carry Your Heart with Me: Universal Love Stories, with songs by Andrea Bocelli
– Feb. 13: Harbor of My Heart: Love Poems, with songs by Andrea Bocelli
– Feb. 20: The Beautiful Changes: The Poetry of Richard Wilbur
– Feb. 27: Poems That Make Grown Men Cry, Part One.
