Impact Photo Show: Panel Discussions and Opening Reception

IMPACT, a juried photography exhibition featuring East End photographers, opens with panel discussions and an opening reception on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the North Fork Arts Center Gallery.

The afternoon begins with “Through the Juror’s Eye: Selecting the Winning Photographs” from 2 to 3 p.m., a discussion on what makes an image stand out. Panelists are Amnon Bar-Tur, Jim Willse and Harvey Stein.

From 3 to 4 p.m., “On Assignment: Celebrity Photography” brings together photographers Guerin Blask, Macall Polay and Deborah Feingold to talk about their careers and experiences on assignment.

An opening reception follows from 4 to 6 p.m., with a chance to meet participating artists and view the selected works. More than 460 images were submitted by 176 East End artists, with 100 photographs chosen through a blind jury process to be exhibited.

Admission is free. The exhibition remains on view through Nov. 22.
