Historian Mary Laura Lamont will give a talk on William Floyd, the Long Island signer of the Declaration of Independence, and the risks he took to support the Revolution. The lecture will cover Floyd’s life and times, his family and friends, his local connections, and what happened to him and his property during the Revolutionary War.
Lamont is a former park ranger at the William Floyd Estate for the National Park Service. The program is presented in collaboration with the Friends of Orient Beach State Park.
