Southold Historical Museum presents a season of exhibits exploring the North Fork’s role in the Revolutionary Era. “The American Revolution in Southold” will be on view weekends from May 23 through Sept. 12 at the Maple Lane Campus.
Southold Historical Museum’s Maple Lane Campus will host a Revolutionary War living history encampment with reenactors from the Third New York Regiment. The free event includes children’s games, a Hamilton sing-along, refreshments and vendors, plus a birthday cake presentation and a live cannon blast demonstration.
Southold Town Historian Amy Folk will discuss the events that led to the Revolutionary War, from 1765 through August 1776. The free lecture will connect local history in Southold and on Long Island to the national story of the Revolution.
Southold Historical Museum will present a “Red, White & Blue” textile exhibit of quilts and historic flags on Saturdays in July at the Maple Lane Campus. The exhibit is part of the museum’s season exploring the North Fork’s role in the Revolutionary Era ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Southold Historical Museum’s Maple Lane Campus is a stop on the 2026 Long Island History Hunt, a region-wide Revolutionary War challenge running May 23 through Sept. 30. Visit the campus to learn about Jared Landon’s role in Southold during British occupation, take a selfie by the red museum sign, and upload it to complete the challenge.

Southold Historical Museum will host an illustrated lecture via live Zoom with Sally Snowman, the last official lighthouse keeper in the United States, and Jeremy D’Entremont of the U.S. Lighthouse Society. The program highlights women lighthouse keepers of the Northeast and includes Snowman’s reflections on her years at Boston Light. Free admission; RSVP requested.
